Kerri L. (Thomsen) Tom is a Professor of English and the Director of the Enduring Questions & Ideas GE curriculum at Concordia University Irvine where she finds great joy in teaching everything from Greek mythology to Dracula. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where her focus was the poetry and drama of the English Renaissance. Her publications include articles on Shakespeare, Milton, Spenser, and Bradstreet. She lives in southern California with her husband and two miraculous children.
The poems that Dr. Tom curates here bring us into private lives of prayer and praise. As she capably guides the reader through these seventeenth-century poems, we experience afresh our hardships, failures, and fears as humans and God's love, healing, and hope for us. Capturing our physical, emotional, and spiritual turmoil in vivid verse, these Christian poets point us to God's grace and the life of faith. - Scott Ashmon, Ph.D., M.Div., Senior Vice President, Provost Concordia University, Irvine
