After graduating from Central Michigan University in 1969, Ron Helmboldt taught high school and coached in Sparta, Michigan. His wife, Cathy, sons, Andy and Joe, students and athletes all endured stories of life “back in the day” in rural Marion, where his father and grandfather were the local barbers.
