Born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. Marty discovered writing at an early age by writing short stories and entering contests. She attended Northern Illinois University. It was at this institution she would discover her gift and passion for writing through mentor and Professor John Bradley. It was Professor Bradley who encouraged Marty to submit two short stories that were published in Contemporary Voices. From that point on Marty had been bitten by the writing bug and was determined to publish. She later went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University, her Master's degree in Organizational Management from University of Phoenix and her Paralegal Certificate from Roosevelt University. Marty enjoys writing and her dream career would involve: creating cards for Hallmark; writing songs for artists; speech-writing and writing for playwrights including Tyler Perry and Mara Brock Akil. Marty hopes to promote positive relationships between women through her writing. Her goal is to help heal women's self-esteem one book at a time. Marty believes the biggest injustice a woman can commit is not recognizing her full potential. Broken Whole is Marty's first in a series of published works to follow.
