Gauthama Neelambaran was born on 14th-June 1948, and left this world on 14'th September 2015 is an Eminent Journalist & Novelist rendering unprecedented service for more than forty years in Tamil literary world. His contributions to Tamil Literature starts with his first work “Buddharin Punnagai” - a Tamil short story. This story was published in “Swadesamitran” Tamil daily newspaper during the year 1970. He had penned over 200 short stories on history and social genre, poems, articles and 65 Historical Novels and Dramas. Many of his historical plays has been broadcasted in “All India Radio” and telecasted in Chennai Doordharsan TV Channel. He had also penned down over 10 Spiritual books on Hindu Religion & Philosophy. He had worked in various famous & Prestigious Tamil Journals like Deepam, Idhayam Pesugiradhu, Gnana Bhoomi, Mayan, Maniyan Matha Ithazh, Ananda Vikatan, Kungumam, Muththaram and Kunguma Chimizh for over 40 years and retired from his journalist job in October 2014. Some of his significant works in Historical Novels includes, Sethu Banthanam, Chozha Vengai, Raja Ganganam(Ezhavendhan Sangili), Mohini Kottai, Vijaya Nandhini, Masidoniya Maaveeran, Nila Mutram, Kalinga Mohini, Nayana Dheepangal, Maruthanayagam, Sanakiyarin Kadhal, Vetri Thilagam, Vengai Vijayam, Kochadayan, Suthanthira Vengai ( History of King Poolithevan, a foremost freedom fighter in South India). Driven by his interest toward “Gautama Buddha” he had penned down the detailed Life History of Buddha which was published in “Mutharam Tamil Weekly” as weekly episodes for nearly 3 ½ years. This work was later compiled & published as a book “BuddharPiran”. He was survived by his wife, K Akila and his son Vijaya Sankar.K who works in an IT organization.
