Anil Goonewardene, Attorney-at-Law (SL), Barrister, has taught for over twenty years at the London Buddhist Vihara's Dhamma School, as well as at the Buddhist Society, London. He has also taught Buddhism at London Metropolitan University, UK, in addition to his main teaching in the Law department, and is the Buddhist Representative on the Religious Council of England and Wales. Sri Lankan born, Anil makes regular trips to his home country, taking part in radio debates and giving talks on Buddhism.
''Written by a Buddhist scholar, brought up in a living Buddhist community, this book outlines with great clarity the fundamental unity of the various schools and traditions of Buddhism and is of equal use to both the Buddhist and the interested reader. It vividly portrays Buddhism''s crucial role as a civilizing force.'' Dr Desmond Biddulph, Vice-President, The Buddhist Society, London, UK: Chairman, The Buddhist Society Council; Editor, The Middle Way Journal
