Vasilka Tăpkova-Zaimova, Ph.D. (1973), is a professor emerita in Byzantine and Balkan history at the Bulgarian Academy of Science. She is a doctor honoris causa of the University of Veliko Tarnovo and University of Bucharest, and author of multiple books and numerous articles in Bulgarian, Russian, and French.
