Lise Tremblay was born in Chicoutimi. Chemin Saint-Paul is her sixth work. She has received much recognition for her work: she won the Governor General's Award for fiction her novel La Danse juive (translated as Mile End) in 1999. In 2003, her short story collection La Héronnière (translated as The Hunting Ground) won the Grand prix du livre de Montréal, the Prix des Libraires, and the Prix France-Québec.Jonathan Kaplansky's translations include Things Seen by Annie Ernaux, Days of Sand by Hélène Dorion, The Girl Before, the Girl After by Louis-Philippe Hébert, Wednesday Night at the End of the World by Hélène Rioux, and No Culture, No Future by Simon Brault. He has taught at the University of Ottawa and sat on the juries for the Governor General's Literary Awards and the John Glassco translation prize.
