Overview
The most complete investigations of the equilibrium of binary alloys of silicon and aluminum were made by Frankel 4 and Roberts 5 the latter investigation confirming the first one in prae tically all respects. According to these investigations no com pound is formed in this series; the two elements form a_ eutectic at about 1 5 per cent silicon and 576° C; the solubility of silicon in aluminum is given as less than 02 5 per cent.
