a poignant gem

"It feels like this book is about something nearly everyone I know has experienced yet we never talk about. It manages to make beauty out of it all. This is a hidden gem of a book. I will be passing it along to many people I know."

Enthralling and moving read

"This was a pull-me-in read, and though fiction, therapeutic, and I felt like I was evolving and healing alongside the main character. Cavlovic writes inner dialogue so beautifully and wittily, and she captures the emotional and physical dilemmas of motherhood that many of us whip past, and then forget. I still carry imagery from this novel with me. It's the kind of read that stays with you."

Chris2 (5/5)

A ""Must read""

"The book touches on so many emotions from love and tenderness to guilt and frustration, that come with caring for aging parents. It left me feeling at times anxious, moved, and deeply reflective. This is a book that should be read and talked about, not only for its emotional depth, but for the truths it quietly reveals about family, responsibility, and compassion."

HelenH (4/5)

Engaging from beginning to end

"Heartfelt and thought provoking. A beautiful story about complicated family dynamics, and compassion for yourself and your loved ones, even when they are hard to love."

Charlie16 (5/5)

Awesome

"This novel made me reach out to the older people left in my life and tell them that I love them and that I’m here if they need help. It’s such a good reminder to us that “the true measure of a society is how it treats its senior citizens. ” Awesome book!"

SAM101 (5/5)

A pleasant surprise.

"This novel really hit home. I was worried it would be heavy but I found it still somehow beautiful and poignant. Family dysfunction but with hope about how to pull through to the other side."
