“Runt’s narration is witty, and it hits the right balance of snarky and vulnerable…The density of the drawings and the short chapters will mean that readers will zip through this volume, groan at the cruelly open-ended cliffhanger, and eagerly await the next installation.” (The Bulletin of the Center for Children's Books)

Great age-appropriate read!

"It was a great mix of reading with enough pictures to keep the attention of a young reader (without just being a comic book). The content was also very age-appropriate. With many other books already released, we’re looking forward to co tingeing the series!"

Amanda M. (5/5)

Bright, action‑filled sequences

"With bright, action‑filled sequences and a video‑game styled world (think “Minecraft‑meets‑journal‑style adventure”), it hooks younger readers who enjoy gaming metaphors. My son also likes the stakes are higher than earlier in the series. For example, Runt buys an expensive enchanted sword and the story shows real risk and cost. My son thinks the overall one is fun, the vocabulary relatively straightforward, and the pacing brisk so it is good for reluctant or transitioning readers."

Rebecca (5/5)

Diary of an 8 but warrior

"My son loved this series so much he still wanted to read the latest installment at 16 :)"

Andrea (5/5)

Mangafish (5/5)

5 stars isn’t enough for this book!

"When I asked my son how many stars he would give this book he said he wanted to give it six instead of five. He thoroughly enjoyed this book. He spent all his free time reading for 2 straight days until it was finished. He didn’t want to put it down!"

Emily (5/5)

Cube Kid is the pen name of Eric Gunnar Taylor. A fan of video games—and particularly Minecraft—he started writing fanfiction at a very young age. His first novel, The Diary of a Minecraft Villager, was self-published as an ebook in February 2015 and quickly became tremendously successful in the Minecraft community. The novel was acquired by the French publisher Édi8, and was published for the first time in France in February 2016 under the title LE JOURNAL D'UN NOOB, with new illustrations by Saboten. The Diary of a Minecraft Villager sparked worldwide interest. When he is not writing, Cube Kid loves traveling, fixing his car, voraciously reading fanfiction . . . and gaming!
