"I believe if one is planning to read about Stoicism, they should begin with this book. Very insightful, straightforward, accessible / modern, and concise. It is a great start to developing a mindset that cultivates virtue and restricts things / circumstances that are not in your control dictate your life. It also has the Enchiridion (a concise summary of all of Epictetus' teachings) at the end which is often excluded in other editions. The only critique is that the translator is somewhat re-inventive and I believe he may have cut out 'repetitive' portions of the original. If you plan on reading more stoicism in the future, such as Meditations, this will help you better grasp the content. Basically, love it, great tool."
