Bram Stoker (1847-1912) was an Irish author best known for his contributions to the Gothic genre. Dracula, his most famous work, has become a literary icon for both horror and Gothic enthusiasts alike. Before his writing career, Stoker had dreams of working in the theater and becoming a prominent thespian. After marrying his wife, Florence Balcombe, Stoker moved to London where he worked as an actor and business manager for Irving''s Lyceum Theatre. Growing his name in the arts industry, Stoker began travelling widely. It was rumored that Stoker was inspired to write Dracula after visiting Cruden Bay in Scotland. In addition to Dracula, Stoker wrote many non-fictional essays as well as twelve novels and three collections of short stories.
