An ardent and passionate teaching artist, Daniel A. Kelin II lives in Hawaii and travels a great deal. He is Honolulu Theatre for Youth (HTY) Director of Drama Education and served as President of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE). A 2009 Fulbright-Nehru Research Scholar in Education in India, he has also had fellowships with Montalvo Arts Center, Theatre for Young Audiences/USA and the Children's Theatre Foundation of America. He is on the Teaching Artist roster of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and has been affiliated with theatres, schools and youth organizations in American Samoa, the Marshall Islands, Pohnpei, Guam and India. AATE awarded him the 1995 Youth Theatre Director of the Year and 2002 Lin Wright Special Recognition award for work with pre-service teachers. Daniel is published in a wide-range of journals, such as Arts Education Policy Review, NCTE's Talking Points, NCSS's Social Studies and the Young Learner, Teaching Tolerance, the Teaching Artist Journal, Storytelling magazine, Parabola, Early Childhood Education Journal, Multicultural Review and Highlights for Children, he has four books to his name. The Reflexive Teaching Artist: Collected Wisdom from the Drama/Theatre Field, was AATE's 2015 Distinguished Book of the Year.
