The story of a particular Welsh community during the American Civil War. It focuses in an easy-to-read style on the army members and also portrays the relationship between the Welsh soldiers and the communities at home. At least 70 soldiers in the Wisconsin 22nd Regiment of Footsoldiers were Welsh speakers - both immigrants and American-born raised in Welsh-speaking homes.
