ANABEL fue abandonada cuando tenía tres meses. ANDRÉS llegó de Colombia en busca de una vida más digna. PEDRO era camarero en un restaurante de Barcelona. Lo que une sus historias es que todos viven en la calle o han vivido en ella en algún momento de su vida. Con este libro, queremos explicar cómo se vive en la calle y qué puede llevar a una persona a hacerlo. Queremos dar a conocer las situaciones de violencia, abandono y soledad; de pérdida de autoestima, dignidad e ilusión que sufren las personas que viven en la calle. Y también queremos averiguar si es posible salir de ellay por qué cuesta tanto. Dos mujeres y cuatro hombres sin un hogar digno nos cuentan cómo era su vida antes; por qué perdieron la casa en la que vivían, y cómo es actualmente su vida en la calle. Son historias llenas de dolor, de injusticia, pero también de solidaridad y perdón. Los testimonios que presentamos nos invitan a cambiar la mirada, a romper prejuicios y a reflexionar sobre la forma en que nos relacionamos con las personas que lo han perdido todo.

Montse worked in a nursing home. Juan left home at fourteen. Ignacio left Argentina for better job opportunities. Anabel was abandoned when she was three months old. Andrés came from Colombia in search of a better life. Pedro was a waiter in a Barcelona restaurant. What unites their stories is that they all live on the streets or have lived on them at some point in their lives. With this book, we want to explain what it's like to live on the streets and what can lead a person to do so. We want to raise awareness of the violence, abandonment, and loneliness; the loss of self-esteem, dignity, and hope that people living on the streets experience. And we also want to find out if it's possible to escape homelessness and why it's so difficult. Two women and four men without a decent home tell us what their lives were like before; why they lost the homes they lived in; and what their lives on the streets are like now. These are stories full of pain and injustice, but also of solidarity and forgiveness. The testimonies we present invite us to change our perspective, to break down prejudices, and to reflect on how we relate to people who have lost everything.
