Reviews

Learning with humor

"Learning with humour; Eat, Shoot & Leaves keeps the reader engaged while undertaking the dull task of teaching proper punctuation with its use of witty remarks and clever story telling"

Amber B. (5/5)

Stunning!

"Punctuation has never been so much fun. I believe everybody should read this book and practice it like a religion. Absolutely amazing!"

Sara (5/5)

Entertaining!

"I'm almost afraid to post a review in case I make a mistake with my punctuation! It would be helpful for those who struggle with writing to read this book to improve their punctuation, but I think that only those sticklers for the rules will truly enjoy the humour in this book."

Emmy (3/5)

To enshrine punctuation

"Witty and funny read regarding one of the most misunderstood and misused member of grammar. Great read that will likely make you remember and properly use punctuation!"

Benny (4/5)

Just remember folks. .

"Just remember folks: if it's more than one kid it is kids', and if it is one kid it is kid's. For instance: if you put a kid's playground sign up then it belongs to or is used by 1 kid. Remember this and you'll be well on your way to appreciating this gem of a book."

Stephen (4/5)

Preachy but funny

"While grammar and punctuation errors can make me wince, it's difficult to expound on them without sounding like a no-fun ranter. Truss treads a thin line with this book, but she manages to fall on the funny side of it."

Lynne Truss is a writer and journalist who started out as a literary editor with a blue pencil and then got sidetracked. The author of three novels and numerous radio comedy dramas, she spent six years as the television critic of The Times of London, followed by four (rather peculiar) years as a sports columnist for the same newspaper. She won Columnist of the Year for her work for Women’s Journal. Lynne Truss also hosted Cutting a Dash, a popular BBC Radio 4 series about punctuation. She now reviews books for the Sunday Times of London and is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4. She lives in Brighton, England.
