Great gift idea

"Love this books absolutely so excited to gift my friends my favourite book for bookclub!"

BookDream (5/5)

AMAZING

"this is one of my favourite books. It is diverse, creates a wonderful world, and is beautifully written."

Samantha (5/5)

I've never read a book quite like this

"It was written in a very distinctive style I've never read before. I liked it much more than I thought I would. Seanan is a master of casually building a whole world in the background of the character development without distracting or too much empty exposition. It's also generally a very unique story which is a joy to immerse yourself in."

AMAZING read

"this premise of this book was so intriguing, well written and suspenseful. I loved every minute of the book the ending was heartfelt, I can't wait to read the next book"

TeeTee (4/5)

Amazing!

"Got me out of a months-long reading slump! I read this in almost one sitting, it was very difficult to put down and I went back to it as soon as I had the time. A short book, yes, but such a great story and world. The world is the reason to read this book, it is one of my favourites of 2018."

Bekki (5/5)

Very interesting fantasy!

"Great worldbuilding, intriguing and inspiring premise, a fascinating book to read."

BenH (4/5)

Overhyped

"One of those instances where I wondered if I was reading a different book from everyone else. I was captivated by the summary of this book where children who were spirited away into different worlds return and have to learn how to cope with reality. Unfortunately, this book missed the mark because the worlds these kids belonged to were more interesting than the characters themselves. There was also this really unexpected murder mystery plot line that took over the story, which wasn't what I signed up for. Another major problem was that this book was too short. It needed to flesh out its ideas because everything seemed too rushed. However, I don't think I could have finished this book if it were any longer."

Online Book Review

"For the novel Every heart a doorway by Seanan McGuire. I rate this book a three out of five stars. The reasoning behind this is because, yes I found the book very interesting and yes I loved it. But the ending of the novel and another reason which I’ll explain later on, is what made me give a three out of five in the long run. Now if we begin to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the novel. Some strengths for me would be how the story lines interesting, and how the book made me want to continuously keep reading up until the end. It was honestly a huge struggle for me not to finish it all in one shot! Another huge strength would be the characters and setting of the novel. I find without these specific characters and without the setting the book wouldn’t as interesting as it originally was. To go more in depth, I find all the characters are very unique in their own way and they all have an interesting twist to them which I really enjoy. For the setting I find it’s really important because it gets the whole plot moving and everything happens at the boarding school not to mention, I find it overall suits the book itself. I also like the fact that it’s a shorter novel because even if it had a lot of interesting details the length made everything less stressful for me. Lastly, the amount of themes that’s mentioned in this book is a great strength because even if this book is known as a “fantasy” type of read. You could still connect those themes to real life and the real world. Now if we bring up weaknesses. Some for me would be the ending of the book. For me, I didn’t enjoy the ending of the novel because I find the way it ended happened so quickly while the rest of the book had lots of details, so just the fact that it wrapped up so fast gave me a negative effect. My other weakness for the book is how the author didn’t describe the characters in their other worlds. And in the very beginning I was really looking forward to experiencing that and since that didn’t end up happening that caused me to have a negative view in this case. Now if some were wondering, I do have a favourite and non favourite part to this book. On a positive note, I’d have to say my favourite part of the novel is when Nancy finds the letter that Sumi left her right before Nancy found her door. Just because it was heart warming since the letter was Nancy’s way of being “sure” about everything, in order to go back home. So I really loved that. Now my not so favourite part of the novel again like iv’e mentioned already was the ending of the book. I just find it could’ve been expressed in a better way then the way it was said and brought up in the novel. So, that includes my Book review! Overall besides me not enjoying the ending and not experiencing the characters in other unique worlds. I absolutely loved the novel and i'm so glad I got the opportunity to read it."

Fantastic story.

"Seanan McGuire is one of my favourites authors. I didn't think she could write a series that I liked more than the October Days series but she did. This story feels current yet timeless."

Nicole (5/5)

Such a unique littel book!

"Wow! This was such a unique book! Love how it was a fantasy and a mystery in one glorious book! Those are my two favourite genres and have never read them combined. I have the second book out from the library think I’m going to start reading it in the am! “Their love wanted to fix her, and refused to see that she wasn’t broken” “We notice the silence of men. We depend upon the silence of women”"
