M.G. Vassanji
Novelist and editor, M.G. Vassanji was born in Nairobi, Kenya and raised in the East African Indian community in Tanzania. His works have received much acclaim including the 2009 Governor General's Award for Non-Fiction for A Place Within: Rediscovering India, two Giller Prizes for The Book of Secrets and The In-Between World of Vikram Lall and a Commonwealth Writer's Prize for The Gunny Sack. In 2005 he was made a Member of the Order of Canada. M.G. Vassanji lives in Toronto with his family.
