Praise for Biscuit: “A touchstone text to assess, nourish, and foster the development of the emergent reader.” Columbia University Teachers College “Biscuit is a charming little fellow. Traditional and sweet just like homemade buttermilk biscuits with honey.” - Kirkus Reviews
Prolific children's book author Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1957. She earned her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in New York, where she has also taught writing. She was a professional dancer and dance instructor before her writing career began. Her first published book was a lift-the-flap work called Peekaboo Bunny, and she is well known for her series for beginning readers featuring the puppy Biscuit.

Pat Schories was born in New York State in 1952, and grew up in Ohio. In addition to illustrating the Biscuit Series for early readers, she created a series of wordless books entitled Jack, for children "on the verge" of reading. She is also the illustrator of Forest, What Would You Like, a book of poetry by Irene O'Garden.
