Home Front

"This is the second book I have read by Kristin Hanna and I loved both of them. I felt I was in the book living the life of women involved in both of them. I laughed. I cried, and I cried. They hit me on such an emotional level. The first book I read was The Great Alone. I’m now going to read The Nightingale."

Gripping historical fiction to be added to your TBR list!

"I have recently discovered Kristin Hannah's novels and was excited to delve into Home Front. It did not disappoint. I immediately was drawn to the characters and found it to be one of those books I hated to put down. The depiction of those coming home from war, not only those in battle but those ""behind the scenes"" who still witnessed the horror tug at the heartstrings. It was heartbreaking to see how the women, the nurses, were treated after coming home. I laughed, I cried and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Highly recommend adding Home Front to your TBR list!"

A woman soldier survival story from the frontline to home

"After reading 'The Women' by Kristin Hannah (great read!), seemed like a natural choice to continue reading more from this author and about women in the military. This story did not disappoint! A well written depiction of a woman soldier, a wife & mother, being deployed to Iraq. The challenges she faced before deployment and upon her return, both physical & mental, made the reader glean a real understanding of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and life-altering injury for not only the survivor but the family as well. Highly recommend this book!"

A heartfelt take on the harsh realities of military service.

"Relatable to serving members and eye-opening to those who aren't as it does an excellent job depicting the challenges families face while their loved ones are deployed. This book does an excellent job continuing the difficult narrative of life on return from deployment, and the physical and mental health challenges for veterans and their loved ones. A highly recommended read."

How do you keep a family intact when one must go off to fight a battle?

"When you have a Kristin Hannah book in your hands you know that you will run the gamut of emotions. Home Front does not disappoint the reader. The story is authentic and realistic. A family divided by war but with a twist - it is the Mum who has to leave her family for long periods of time."

Home Front, although fiction, it could have very easily been based on true facts

"Kristin Hannah is a superb author and I can't get enough of her books. She never disappoints."

"A quick read. Did not enjoy as much as her other novels."

Marci C. (3/5)

An easy read and different subject matter

"3. 5 stars. I enjoyed this novel. I hadnt read novels about experiences during the Iraq war written from this perspective. I didn’t love the way the older daughter were written but maybe that’s just because I found her a bit cliche. This book definitely isn’t as refined as Hannah’s more recent novels but it drew me in sufficiently to be enjoyable. A pretty easy read."

HZedm (3/5)

Great read.

"Great work of historical fiction about women pilots in war. Recognizing the need for more help for PTSD."
