A Canadian treasure

"Its an excellent read of a young girl from Cape Breton, learning to play the fiddle and becoming one of Canada’s most recognized musicians. She tells her story in a down to earth way about her childhood, marrying Donnell Leahy and having her 7 children. I loved her honesty and heart felt thoughts and love her Cape Breton traditional music!!!"

A young musical prodigy, Natalie MacMaster began fiddling at the age of nine and released her debut album at the age of 16. Three decades, 16 albums, two Junos, and a Grammy nomination later, she has succeeded in bringing the music of her beloved homeland, Cape Breton Island, into the mainstream. She has toured with the Chieftains, Faith Hill, Carlos Santana and Alison Krauss, and has recorded with Yo-Yo Ma. She has appeared at the Celtic Colours festival in Cape Breton, Celtic Connections in Scotland and MerleFest in the United States. Performing almost 100 shows a year—often with her fiddler husband, Donnell Leahy and seven children—MacMaster continuously wows crowds with her exuberant stage presence and signature style of Celtic fiddling.
