Claude Monet was one of the founders of French Impressionist Painting. He was known for painting the same scene many times in order to capture the changing light and seasons, particularly the lily ponds in his garden at Giverny. Among his best-known works are his water lilies series, which contains more than 250 paintings, and "San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk."
