This is a beautiful little book, well worth reading for that reason alone. While editing it for the publisher, I found myself cheering, time and again.

Deep, meticulous scholarship is expressed in plain, lyrical language, but the message is far more important. As the title states, this is a reworking of many popular Christmas carols to become relevant to the issues of our time: humanity's attack on the natural world that keeps us alive, war, poverty, cruelty, discrimination. Instead, the author has written original lyrics that embody Jesus' real message.

I hope his new carols take off, and change people's understanding.
