A Must Read

"I just finished reading “Kick Ass at Work” by Josh MacKinnon. He really nailed it! I think this book should be included in the careers programme at all high schools. I would strongly recommend it be read by every student who wants to get ahead in their profession of choice. The lessons he describes in this book are common sense skills that are tried and true. Not everyone is aware of them or uses them correctly. Josh lays out a clear plan for anyone who wants to successfully advance in a workplace. A must read!!"

Highly Recommend

"Kick Ass at Work is a must read for people at the start of their careers and/or, who want to get noticed by improving their achievements at work. The book mixes story telling, based on Josh’s own vast work experiences, with easy to implement steps that will lead to better job performance. The lessons may seem like common sense to those of us knee deep in our careers, but that’s only because we had to learn the hard way what work place common sense looks like. Kick Ass at Work will help young people side step learning lessons the hard (and often painful) way. After reading it, I gave the book to my 22 year old daughter who told me the book is an easy and enjoyable read and that she’ll be recommending it to her friends."

Very Relatable and Helpful!

"I really enjoyed reading Kick Ass at Work. It’s the kind of book that gives practical advice without feeling too serious or complicated. The examples were relatable, and the writing felt friendly and motivating. I picked up a lot of useful tips about confidence, communication, and handling challenges at work. What I liked most was that it felt honest and encouraging instead of overly “corporate. ” It’s a great read for anyone who wants to improve professionally and stay motivated in their career."

Practical, relatable, and genuinely motivating

"Such a refreshing read! I loved how relatable the advice felt, it's way more practical than most other career books I've picked up. The author does a great job breaking down different aspects of work, mindset, communication, and growth in a way that actually feels useful in real life instead of overly motivational or repetitive. The writing was easy to follow, engaging, and filled with ideas that made me reflect on my own approach to work and personal development. Definitely worth picking up if you’re trying to figure out your next move or just want a better mindset at work. Highly recommend!"

Simple Yet Overlooked Career Lessons

"I recently finished reading Kick Ass At Work and am very glad that I took the time to do so. What I appreciated most about this book is how practical and concise it is. Many career and self-development books can feel repetitive or overly theoretical, but this one delivers valuable lessons in a very direct and easy-to-understand manner. The advice feels realistic and applicable to everyday work situations, whether you are a student, intern, or experienced professional. Another thing that made the book engaging was the inclusion of exercises and reflection activities throughout the chapters. These made the book feel interactive rather than just informational, and they encouraged me to actually think about how the lessons apply to my own career and behavior at work. I also really enjoyed learning about the authors' personal experiences. Hearing how he developed these lessons through real workplace challenges, leadership experiences, and personal growth made the advice feel much more authentic and credible. Overall, his storytelling made the book more relatable and memorable."

Practical Advice & Highly Relatable

Really relatable and enjoyable business book!

"One of the few career and leadership books that’s actually worth your time. It’s practical, sharp, and surprisingly fun to read, with insights you can immediately apply at work. It covers the things that matter most in today’s workplace, like emotional intelligence, leadership, and performance, but in a way that feels real, not textbook. The mix of storytelling and research makes it stick. I work with professionals across all levels, and this is a book I’d confidently recommend (and probably gift). It’s useful, human, and a refreshing break from the usual business book formula."
