Eduardo Halfon est né au Guatemala en 1971 et a passé une partie de sa jeunesse aux États-Unis. Il a publié neuf romans, dont La Pirouette, qui a reçu en Espagne le prestigieux prix José María de Pereda récompensant les romans courts. En 2007, Eduardo Halfon, est nommé parmi les trente-neuf meilleurs jeunes écrivains latino-américains au Hay Festival de Bogotá, et bénéficie, en 2011, de la Bourse Guggenheim. Il vit aujourd'hui dans le Nebraska.
