Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers join forces to track down a ruthless killer who will do whatever it takes to keep the past buried, in this latest thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford.
Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.
Twenty years later, Lara has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Confronted with the possibility of her own death, she’s determined to find Doris’s killer once and for all. Finally taking matters into her own hands, she dumps the entire investigative file on every true-crime site in the world and offers a $5 million reward for information leading to the killer’s arrest. Dozens of true-crime bloggers show up looking for both new evidence and “clicks,” and Lucas Davenport and Virgil Flowers are called in to review anything that might be a new lead.
When one of the bloggers locates the murder weapon, Lucas and Virgil begin to uncover vital details about the killer’s identity. But what they don’t know is the killer lurks in plain sight, and with the true-crime bloggers blasting every clue online, the killer can keep one step ahead. As the nation maneuvers the detectives closer to the truth, Lucas and Virgil will find that digging up Doris’s harrowing past might just get them buried instead.

"GREAT BOOK LIKE ALL SANDFORD BOOKS ARE. I REALLY LIKE THE CHARACTERS OF HIS BOOKS."

Senior Murder Club Together Again
"This read follows the Thursday Murder Club series. Love the “senior” characters, their friendship and how uncanny they are in working together to solve the crime once again. Wonderful read."
— Mystery F. (5/5)
Lethal Prey a disappointment
"My husband has read nearly all the ‘Prey’ books and enjoys them. This one not so much - John Sanford has resorted to the cliff hanger beloved by streaming series."
— Ari K. (3/5)
Lethal Prey
"This was a gift for my son, an avid John Sandford reader, for Father's Day. The book ia a non-stop, page turner. Enjoyed from the first page to the last!!! Looking forward to his next book!"
— A. H. (5/5)
Davenport and Flowers Back Again
"John Sandford is my favourite author. All of his books are funny, captivating, and very realistic. The way he describes the country and landscape where his characters live is dead on. His two characters, Davenport and Flowers, are the best duo. I love the humour in their conversations. You always know the case will be resolved but you keep waiting for the moment one of them sees the light at the end of the tunnel. About every six months I head to the bookstore to see if there is another Sandford novel because the people in his stories, good and bad, are so real."
— Sonja (5/5)
always keeps you guessing as to what the lethal prey is until the very end
"all his books are the kind that once you start reading you have a really had time putting down, they are that good. would tell everyone to read it"
— Raylene B. (5/5)
Love the Prey series. . .
"Another completely enjoyable Sandford read. Meets all my expectations for a strong plot with real-world characters and foibles. Dialog is crisp with sharp humour injected into the conversations. A truly wonderful read. . ."
