Norse Mythology Is Hilarious

"Rick Riordan has done it again! If you loved the humor and action of Percy Jackson, you absolutely need to pick up The Sword of Summer. This book is a brilliant, fast-paced dive into Norse mythology, but with Riordan's signature modern twist and incredible wit. Our main hero, Magnus Chase, is a sarcastic, homeless kid from Boston who discovers he's the son of a Norse god. . . right before he dies and winds up in the hotel Valhalla. What a start! From there, the book is non-stop fun, introducing a fantastic cast of diverse characters, including the dwarf Black Jack, the deaf elf Hearthstone, and the awesome Valkyrie Samirah al-Abbas. The book is rich with lore—think giants, trolls, epic feasting halls, and even a talking sword—but it never feels overwhelming. Magnus's narrative voice is genuinely funny and relatable, making even the world-ending stakes feel fresh and exciting. If you want a book that will make you laugh out loud and immediately crave the next installment, this is it. The perfect start to a new mythological saga!"

A Good and Funny Start to The Series

"If you’re a fan of Percy Jackson I think you’d enjoy this series, it gives you a look into a bit more about Annabeth’s past (As she’s Magnus’ cousin) though the story mostly revolves around Magnus himself with a few brief scenes that Annabeth shows up in. I enjoyed the story but it can’t beat Percy Jackson or Heroes of Olympus."
