L'histoire de l'institution communale est si em preinte d'actualit , qu'on me saura gr de pr senter l'analyse de la plupart des chartes municipales des Xll. et Xlll. si cles, et de mentionner les nom breuses coutumes locales. C'est dans ces documens qu'il faut d sormais chercher l'ensemble des ah ciennes moeurs et des faits sociaux. C'est l que j'ai puis les principaux traits de l'esquisse que j'en ai trac e dans l'introduction.
