Reviews

A poignant roller coaster ride through Maddy’s experience with BPD

"This is an excellent and heartbreaking account of a young woman suffering with the roller coaster bipolar disorder. The book takes the reader through the diagnostic phase, the mania and depressive episodes that define Maddy’s life including how her family and close friends try to stay in relationship with her as she struggles with this unrelenting mental illness. The last few chapters had me crying and cheering for Maddy and then crying again. Being labelled as the illness versus having the illness will give many readers food for thought and we can reflect on the larger medical model system and its impact on what we, as a society, decides is “normal. ”"

Captivating Story

"I loved the novel. Alma Joshi is one of my favourite authors and once again she does not disappoint. Definitely hard to put down from beginning to end."

More or Less Maddy

"Book boring. . you get” less “ satisfaction reading it than “more “"

Linda (1/5)

An important read

"“More or Less Maddy accurately depicts the rollercoaster ride it is to love and care for a family member with bipolar disorder. Although it is a work of fiction, this book gives insight into an illness that affects so many, yet few truly understand."

Brooke (5/5)

Captured my attention

"Lisa Genova does an admiral job of explaining bipolar through the life of Maddy. It was believable and I couldn't put the book down."

Kdreebs (5/5)

Fascinating subject matter in a modern family setting

"Very interesting, informative book based on a fictional family’s experience with a daughter in her 20’s with bipolar disorder. It is in a modern day setting which makes the book even more riveting."

AMCC (5/5)

Spot on. Maddy was still Maddy, just a different version of herself.

"An absolutely amazing book, so well written. An excellent depiction of bipolar disease."
