O Timothy! Guard the Deposit of Faith is an indispensable resource for all Catholic catechists-that is, those responsible for handing on the faith as Jesus handed in on to the Apostles, and as they handed it on to all of the Bishops in succession with them. In these days when the faithful are bombarded by moral relativism, subjectivism and situation ethics from all sides, it is essential for catechists to know that their mission is to hand on the faith of Jesus and the Apostles, not the faith of this or that theologian. The Deposit of Faith consists of specific content which is objective, true and timeless. Furthermore, there is a method for handing on the faith, the method used by the Apostles and the Fathers of the Church, which is as valid now as it was in Apostolic times. Michael P. McKeating has been an ordained deacon in the Roman Catholic Church since 1979. He has been involved in catechesis at the parish level for nearly three decades, teaching Sacramental Preparation, Confirmation and RCIA. He is a widower with two adult children and four grandchildren, and a practicing attorney. He holds a Master of Arts in Theology with Honors from Franciscan University of Steubenville, as well as B.A., M.A. and Juris Doctor degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He currently serves as a pastoral associate at a parish in Buffalo, where he concentrates on evangelization and catechesis.
