John Humphrey of' Orland. Cook county, 7th district, is a lawyer by profession and an Englishman by birth. He was born in the county of Norfolk, England, June 20, 1838, and was brought to this country by his parents when a lad of ten years. The family settled in Cook county, Illinois, where Senator Humphrey received a common school education. He read law in the othee of Hon. James P. Root, and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1872. He lives in Orland and practices his profession with an office in the Monadnock building, Chicago.
