Trinidadian author Chad Modeste was born in 1976 and began serious appreciation for the written word in 1995 with his first never published book, The Lion's Mantle. Years of vicissitudes culminated with the appearance of New Flower: The Labours and Contributions of Haile Sellassie the First in 2007. His other books include Old Board House: A Glance at Trinidad and Tobago (2009) and its phenomenal revision in 2010. Proficient in non-fiction Modeste's fourth book is entitled Among the Profane: Masters of the Pen without Academic Degrees. Two of his books have been used by the UWI's, St Augustine Campus. He resides in Trinidad and his writing "blends the natural beauty of an emotional poet with the scrutiny of an observant labourer." Dedicated to his craft, Modeste has chosen no other profession.
