Michael Trope is currently a Los Angeles based trial lawyer, whose practice began in 1987 after his retirement as a sports agent. Trope has successfully represented clients as lead trial lawyer and has won jury and non jury trials in diverse litigation including criminal defense, emotional distress, wrongful death, breach of contract, and probate will contest cases. He has also represented clients in numerous family law cases. His first published book, Necessary Roughness, was an account of his years as a sports agent which began when Trope, as a 20-year-old senior at U.S.C., represented the 1972 Heisman Trophy winner, Johnny Rogers. During the next twelve years, until his retirement from the sports agency business in 1985, Trope negotiated contracts for over one hundred pro football players, many of which were record breaking contracts at the time, including over thirty five NFL first round draft selections, the recipients of seven Heisman trophies, and many other acclaimed players who have been honored as pro bowl and Hall of Fame selections.
