Lai-Chang Zhang is a Professor of Materials Engineering, the Head of the Centre for Advanced Materials and Manufacturing and the Program Leader for Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. After receiving his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, he held several positions at The University of Western Australian, University of Wollongong, IFW Dresden and Technical University Darmstadt. His research interests include metal additive manufacturing, metallic biomaterials, lightweight alloys and structures, and high-strength alloys and composites. He has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Materials Science by Clarivate and as an Advanced Materials Laureate by the International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM), Sweden. He has published   approximately 425 peer-reviewed journal articles with an h-index of 99 and more than 35,000 citations. He concurrently serves as Editor-in-Chief ofAdvanced Light Materials, Associate Editor for theInternational Journal of Extreme Manufacturing, Editor forAdvanced Powder Materials, as well as an editorial board member for more than 10 journals, including theInternational Journal of Mining Science and Technology,Advanced Engineering Materials,Metals Advances, andScientific Reports.
