In 1965, life was a little different from today's 21st-century rush. there were no computers, mobile phones and very few motorways. The 70mph national speed limit had still not been implemented although not so many cars or roads were capable of handling such speeds. This was the time when Britain was improving the national grid infrastructure to bring it into the "super-grid". functionality.
Men dug holes for pylon foundations, erected the steel mega-structures and, finally strung the miles of cable that would bring cheap electricity to the masses throughout Britain.
Men worked in squads that moved from area to area, following the strings as they were built. Thew were a close group for the most part. They had to be when you were thirty feet down a hand-dug hole or 150 feet up a steel structure they had to be. This is a fictional story based around a young couple, Harold and Mavis and the events that happened one morning in Cheshire in the mid-sixties. Harlod wakes to receive news that will change their lives forever but like any working day. Work comes first.
Harold and the crew are beset with number of "accidents," leaving the team one member short even before they get on-site.
Arriving late to find one of the project engineers already there and wildly upset at the lack of progress. The crew are forced along a route that ultimately leads them to a horrific point experience that will have a life-changing effect on each of them.
