Lulu Delacre, a three-time Pura Belpré Award honoree, is the illustrator of numerous award-winning books, several of which she also wrote or compiled. Her books range from picture books to chapter books to YA novels. Delacre was born and grew up in Puerto Rico, where she loved to draw pictures, catch lizards, and listen to the song of the coquíes, tiny tree frogs. Her childhood experiences were the inspiration for Rafi and Rosi and their adventures. Delacre and her husband live in Silver Spring, Maryland.

"Pleasantly illustrated with a warm, colorful palette.... A great addition to any beginning reader bookshelf. " -- Booklist

"Will help teachers, librarians, and parents to develop Puerto Rican cultural programs, curriculum, or home activities to extend young readers' learning. The inclusion of instructions to make one's own homemade güiro is a thoughtful addition.... A welcome, well-researched reflection of cultural pride in the early-reader landscape. " -- Kirkus Reviews

"A hearty introduction into the different musical styles. Ideal for early fluent readers. Educators may want to pair with music to help youngsters understand the various styles." -- School Library Journal
