It’s one of those books that you can’t even flick through without getting almost unbearably hungry: cosy comfort is offered on every page; basic (in the sense that it welcomes the novice) but never boring. Let me give you some of my highlights: her Simple Very Tasty Cauliflower Cheese Steaks, gooey with Red Leicester; Crispy Korean Pancakes, studded with crunchy vegetables; Fried Cabbage with Noodles & Bacon; Spicy Sichuan Pork Noodles; Baked Creamy Feta Risoni (risoni is another name for what we, over here, more commonly come across as orzo pasta); the Vietnamese Shaking Beef, “garlicky, sweet and salty with a frisky black pepper bite”; Pad See Ew, a Thai dish of wide noodles, caramelised at the edges, and turned in a rich savoury sauce; Saucy Baked Pork Meatballs; Baked Ratatouille with Beans; the accurately titled Nachos of Your Dreams; a luscious Laksa — and I could go on, but I haven’t even got to the desserts yet! —Nigella Lawson

This is our regular go to for weekly dinner meals.

"Loving all the recipes we have tried so far. Quite delicious. Very happy they are easy to make. So glad the author tells you ahead of time if something needs to be cooked first. Steps are in proper order and index also helpful. Just realized tonight that we’ve used the author’s recipes before from the internet not realizing they were made by the same person!! Will check out their other books now. Love the one with the dog on it."

Lassie (5/5)

Amazing Cookbook

"I have tried a few of the recipes from this book already and they are great 👍 I highly recommend it. The recipe instructions are clear, concise, and pretty easy, the ingredients are usually easy to find in grocery stores, and each recipe has a great picture. She also has another book I bought and it's just as good."

Sam R. (5/5)

Recipes that Work

"Great recipes with step by step directions, QR code to videos, glossary explaining all the different ingredients. The author provides substitutions for some ingredients that may not be readily available. Many recipes are easy enough for every day and all the ones I've tried were delicious and successful the first time I attempted them. There were many that are not on her web blog. The one for Beef Wellington was very detailed and used some great """"tricks"""" to nearly guarantee a perfect result for any home cook who can follow directions. I made it for Christmas, and after past attempts that always resulted in a mess of crumbled pastry and druxelle that slid off after slicing, that recipe alone was well worth the price of the book."
