-- San Francisco Chronicle

"It's a story about entrepreneurship, and risk, and hard work, and knowing where you want to go and being willing to do what it takes to get there.  And it's a story about believing in your idea even when maybe some other folks don't, and about sticking to your guns."
-- Sam Walton

The story about how the biggest retailer company in the world has started

"The book tells the story about how Walmart established"

Abdullah (4/5)

Amazing and Motivating Book

"This book was absolutely amazing. The man was way ahead of his time and really did change the way we shop today. I highly recommend this book to people who are in any kind of business. A must read for Business and marketing students also."

CLUKES (5/5)

He did good for himself

"Over-rated. This guy was no dummy but it's obvious that to launch a franchise & keep profits high you need to keep costs down. I suppose he was one of the first people to exploit cheap labour at home & abroad, but at least I, as a consumer, still have a choice where I shop. Competition is good, & I'm glad there remains local shops who can still price match Walmart's prices."

A Retail of a Story!

"Great bio of one of the world's greatest retailers who started with little to build one of the biggest corporations in the world. The late Sam Walton's folksy wisdom permeates the pages as he stressed his humble beginnings, his ambition and his focus on customer service. A must read for anybody pondering the world of retailing."

Inside the mind of an American legend

"An American retail and merchandising pioneer spends the latter years of his life writing a must read for all the go getting entrepreneurs of the world. An easy read that should be a must for all business owners looking to be a somebody, someday From his days as a child delivering newspapers to the richest man in America in 1985 he never forgot his minimalistic non-flamboyant ways. While many CEO's then and today would ride in private jets and stay at the Hyatt, Sam rented out motel six's and rode economy. His thinking was that such frivolous acts would foot either the customer or the shareholders the bill. Sam advocated niche stores like ""the body shop"" at the time of his death and you can see them popping up everywhere. So many life lessons get reinforced throughout the book. But 2 the most notable highlights ""You can't just keep doing what works one time, because everything around you is always changing. To succeed, you have to out in front of that change. "" ""Ignore the conventional wisdom. If everybody is doing it one way, there's a good chance you can find your niche by going in exactly the opposite direction, be prepare for a lot of folks to wave you down and tell you you're headed the wrong way. "" Made In America shows why WAL-MART is still here and expanding whilst Zellers, Sears and K-mart faded away. Target being the only other company from the original discount retailers still embedding their claws, the rest well are history. From customer relations to employee empowerment, the books basic laws are still not followed to this day by many merchants. Empower yourself and read this book"
