"Elegant and elegiac, brooding but imbued with gallows humor, Shusterman's dark tale thrusts realistic, likeable teens into a surreal situation and raises deep philosophic questions. A thoughtful and thrilling story of life, death, and meaning."

Love the ending

"This book was very enjoyable but nothing beyond amazing until the very end. Wow. I love the world, the surprises and twists and the characters. I am very anxiously awaiting the next book."

Appeals to the teen and adult generation.

"The views on death and immortality may be a little scary for a tween or younger reader, but teens and maybe even adults would enjoy this. It stretches the readers imagination and gets readers thinking."

Great read

"My 12 year old read this cover to cover after getting the recommendation from a friend. He loved it! He said he found the story very compelling and the premise sounded really interesting. Good for readers who also enjoy Percy Jackson."

Mom R. (4/5)

Birthday gift

"Gave to my nephew for his 13th birthday, he was definitely excited to read it!"

Like Dystopian? Cool characters? Edgy plotlines? Scythes got it!

"If you like hunger, games, divergent, maze runner and other dystopian novels, this novel will not disappoint. Neal Shusterman continues to amaze with his multi POV writing style that captures the exceptionally exciting narrative and portrays well developed and interesting characters. The novel is based around a society where no one can die and all modern day issues have been eradicated due to an artificial intelligence system that governs the world with perfect harmony. The reader is left, considering one question """"Can any society ever be truly perfect?"""""

Good for YA

"For a YA book, this is a great read for that age group. As an adult reading it, the concept is good, unfortunately it took longer to get into the book than id like and it was a struggle to really get into the book for an extended period of time."

I couldn't put this book down!

"Although the story takes place in a world almost entirely different from the one in which we live, Scythe felt very believable right from the start. Citra's and Rowan's personalities were so thoughtfully written out that they were both so easy to connect with, and I loved the emotional depth the two of them were given. Just when I thought I really knew a character or thought I could predict what was going to happen next, the story threw in yet another curveball that kept me on the edge of my seat. There were so many exciting plot twists throughout the story that I never once felt bored or wanted to take a break. Almost every book I've read before has had at least one chapter I felt was dragging on or didn't add anything to the story. But in Scythe, I was eager to read every single chapter and was constantly entertained by a new event or character. Furthermore, I loved how Citra's and Rowan's individual journeys were woven so nicely into each other's, so that even when they were apart, there was something tying them together that added a bit of mystery into the story. Scythe is by far my favourite book I've read recently , and I can't wait to move on to the sequel!"

Very literal, simple, easy to remember.

"It’s very dystopian, dark but hopeful at the same time. There are no drawn out moments where it’s just dragging along, there’s always something happening. I love it."

Great book

"Great book which is surprising because I’ve never heard of it before but the workers were great to help me find a book I’d love"
