Ray Butler is a man with many different lives to be lived. His first life was that of a boat captain and business owner on Lake Powell in Arizona. He loved the water and the life he had. He owned his own business, had a partner who was his best friend, was in love with the most amazing woman he would ever meet.
All this was gone in an instant when the boat he was to be driving that day blew up under mysterious circumstances as his business partner was at the wheel. this leads to rumors, accusations, and finally Ray feeling like the only way out of the sadness and betrayal was to simply walk away.

His walking away takes him to the last docks on the last road at the end of Florida where he starts over. the like he builds there is somewhat satisfying, and he finds a way to build a construction company that helps people in need of an honest contractor after a hurricane and the crooked contractors have done their damage.

He meets people he can care about and starts working on a boat he truly loves. it is his SOLACE in all the storms and all the pain he has. but it is never really what he wanted. he misses the days of love, and friends, and laughter he had once.

he gets word from Arizona that there is progress on the solving of the mystery surrounding the explosion that took his partners life, as well as ruined what was left of his. He goes back to Page, Lake Powell to find out what they have been doing

what he discovers is that the people he left behind, thinking they had given up on him, had continued to work on finding the actual cause of the explosion, and the culprit behind it. they worked together as a team, and when it was time to go ahead with the plans, they contacted Ray to join them so he could see that they had believed in him all along, and had never stopped working toward the truth, even after he left them for what they thought might be a better life.

He returns to help them finish the investigation, and get the justice they all deserve.
