An beautiful invitation to go within

"Literature holds the power to heal us. We often come across heroic and courageous tales of people that serve to inspire us to try harder in this race called life. And poetry, which has been considered to be the highest form of literature for ages has been an important tool in the promulgation of hope and inspiring change in us. And it is in this context that I mention the collection 'Solstice' by Tanya Montpetit. The author is nothing short of a warrior and it is during her battle with cancer that this work was born. The poems record her moments of introspection and her journey towards healing and transforming, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. _x000D_ _x000D_ Healing is a very personal and multifaceted concept. It is the author's staunch belief that only after healing ourselves can we lead others to heal. Self-healing begins with self-discovery, the author opines that we must connect with our inner selves to truly understand life; and hope is what we need to hold on to, to make it through. The author is a living inspiration. The poems are her thoughts and opinions verified. They represent the calm and peace that a person on the journey of healing experiences. Realizing that love surrounds us, no matter the situation is an important factor as well. _x000D_ _x000D_ What makes this collection an impactful piece is the subjective note that pervades throughout. The author has not been shy to show her uninhibited honest and vulnerable self in the pages. There is no artificiality in the verses, they flow naturally and thus easily engage the reader. Going through the poems, the reader is surrounded by an air of intimacy. Through the poems, the author has also shared her philosophy and outlook towards life and its challenges. The language that has been used carries an everyday, conversational flow but also contains a poetic flair."
