"The natural environment, speech, and culture in Some Nightmares Are Real reflect an Alabama world that will captivate young readers."
-Emily Blejwas, author of The Story of Alabama in Fourteen Foods and executive director of the Alabama Folklife Association

"It is a great idea to combine historical Alabama events with fictious tales illustrating them. . . . Children are always drawn to scary stories and its always a plus when they can learn a little something in the process."
-Watt Key, author of Bay Boy: Stories of a Childhood in Point Clear, Alabama and Alabama Moon

"It may be strange to say that this beautifully illustrated collection of ghost stories fills me with such a longing for my home state, but it does. Alabama's history, its legends, and supernatural happenings are blended here in a fresh, compelling fashion that readers both young and old will enjoy. These spine-chillers captivated me from the first sentence to the last, and I'm now eager to visit many of these haunted places with my family because of their rich cultural significance, and fascinating history. Kazek has created a worthy addition to Alabama folklore."
-Han Nolan, author of Running Past Dark and Dancing on the Edge (winner of a National Book Award)
