The story made me feel like one of the family coping with being separated from the people you love in a world where the best you can hope for is a few handwritten paragraphs.

"Somewhere In The South Pacific" is a rich mosaic of letters, photos, historical facts, longing, love, fear, and secrecy during a time of total war.

"Somewhere" combines the events of WW2 in the Pacific with the love story of Johnny and Lucia de Roxtro. The loving manner in which this story is written caused me to feel as if I knew this family.

"Somewhere" is an enlightening, and moving depiction of what World War 2 was like as viewed from the perspective of a sailor stationed in the South Pacific who is living it, knowing every day that it might be his last but never missing an opportunity to keep his family both comforted and informed.

"Somewhere" shows clearly that while the ravages of war can be horrendous, both physically and emotionally, true love indeed has the power to overcome and thus conquer them.
