With many of her albums on the Grammy© ballot, South African musician, music therapist and humanitarian Sharon Katz has been composing, recording, performing, and appearing on records with some of the world's greatest artists including Sting, Elton John and Miriam Makeba as well as many other talented singers, instrumentalists and orchestras around the globe.

When Nelson Mandela gave her the mission in 1992 to use her music to help promote fairness and justice, she joined with Nonhlanhla Wanda to form their country's first, 500-voice multicultural choir. The choir, band and projects have been known as The Peace Train ever since, with music that spans multiple genres while taking you on a joyride for the goodness of humankind.

Having taught herself to play guitar and forming bands at a young age in South Africa, Sharon went on to get her Bachelor's degree in Comparative African Government and Law from the University of Cape Town; a Music Teacher's Licentiate from Trinity College of London; and a Master's degree in Music Therapy from Temple University in the USA. She has taught and lectured at universities and professional conferences on three continents. In addition to being a featured artist, Sharon's music has been performed by philharmonic orchestras and choirs around the world.

The award-winning film, When Voices Meet, documents Sharon's music and music therapy work. Proceeds from her recordings and performances have gone toward building a school, supporting an orphanage, and providing meals, after-school programs and mentorships in South Africa, Cuba and Mexico. In recent years, Sharon has been writing music to address global social issues while working with migrant youth, girls rescued from trafficking, and survivors of torture – all with positive messages for better times.

Marilyn Cohen is a co-founder of The Peace Train. She joined the team of Sharon Katz and Nonhlanhla Wanda in 1992 and is responsible for planning and managing The Peace Train's performances and projects worldwide. She wrote the stories that accompany each of the songs in this book.
Laura Vázquez Rodríguez joined The Peace Train team in 2018 and has been instrumental in their work in the USA/Mexico border region. She translated all the text in this book into Spanish.
