The ancient war that plunged the once thriving civilization of Breya into terminal decline is but a fading memory now. The world, a shadow of its former self, is slowly dying, although there are very few who realise it yet alone comprehend why. The Fount - the source of life that has been feeding the world and giving powers to its Loremancers for millennia - is drying up.
The war is all but forgotten, but there remain echoes. Whispers of the long forbidden magic, the dark Lore of dreadful and cruel powers that had once fueled the vast conflict that brought Breya to its knees. Like discordant notes in a symphony, they corrupt the Fount and everyone arrogant or foolish enough to partake of their poison. Or so the Catechists teach.
However, sometimes we have no power over what we want to hear. In two very different parts of Breya, hundreds of leagues apart, unexpected Talents awaken in two unsuspecting teens who suddenly find themselves at the receiving end of the Catechists' justice. As they flee for their lives, they will begin to discover the truth about the world and the real reasons of its demise.
