"The author’s best fantasy yet. ... If you only read one fractured fairy tale this year, make it Heartless. A must-have title. —School Library Journal, starred review

“What Gregory Maguire did for the Wicked Witch, Meyer does for Lewis Carroll’s Queen of Hearts, tracing her arc from a teen with dreams of owning a bakery into a murderous madwoman.” —People Magazine

"When it comes to reimagined fairy tales, the reigning queen of the genre is Marissa Meyer... This dark, enchanting book is Meyer at the height of her powers — crafting a new tale with an old-school feel where nobody is guaranteed a happily-everafter. It is fresh and utterly engrossing while also familiar — just what Meyer does best." —The New York Times

"The queen of fairy-tale retellings is back, this time with “Rumpelstiltskin” as her inspiration, and the result is a gorgeously intricate tale that will have readers locked in from the start. " —Booklist

Reviews

If you love the Lunar Chronicles you will love this!

"Stars Above is amazing! I loved getting extra stories about all my favorite characters from the Lunar Chronicles, especially Cinder and Winter. Some stories made me laugh, some made me cry, and a few gave me serious feels. It was like getting little bonus adventures in a world I already love. Honestly, if you love the Lunar Chronicles, you NEED this book!"

"Super cool and easily consumed in a few days! Read the main series beforehand so it makes more sense!"

Kaed (5/5)

Always Amazing

"These books have been my favourite for years, and I'm so happy I could get the new covers to add to my collection. While this book is just short stories, they never fail to make my heart happy. Indigo, as always, delivered them in a timely fashion and in perfect condition."

Mare (5/5)

Hiya (5/5)

3 Stars

"It was really nice to read this story from another perspective"

Victoria (3/5)

Nice

"The average rating sums up my feelings towards the collection as a whole. With anthologies, you like certain stories more than others. My favourites were the little mermaid retelling and the chapter from Prince Kai's point of view when he first met Cinder. My least favourites were Wolf's chapter, where there was way more showing than telling and all of the interesting aspects happened off screen, and Thorne's Guide to Being Lucky, which was incredibly boring."

Amanda (3/5)

Love

"So glad we got to see little snippets of all the characters in their early years. It was neat seeing the world and their society in general from someones point of view other than in the middle of the revolution. And was so so so excited and happy to get another epilogue!!!!"

Picklescucumber (5/5)

2. 5

"the book was pointless, filling in gaps that were obvious from 3 sentences in the main series. only the last chapter was great with a quick reunion post Winter."

Wonderful set of TLC short stories

"I was so excited when this book came out – The Lunar Chronicles collection is not complete without it! It’s comprised of nine lovely stories, most of which contain a lot of insight about the series’ heroes. Glitches is about when Cinder first came to live with Garan, Adri, Pearl, and Peony. The Queen’s Army is about how Wolf was recruited into a special division of the Lunar military, transformed into a deadly predator, and rose through the ranks of his pack to become Alpha. In After Sunshine Passes By we discover how Cress ended up in her satellite, and in Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky we see that even has a kid, he was still suave and clever. The Princess and the Guard shows us Jacin and Winter’s friendship from childhood to adolescence – we learn how she got that legendary scar! The Mechanic gives us Kai’s perspective on first meeting Cinder in the iconic first chapter of the first book. The Keeper completely blew my mind because it revealed how instrumental Michelle Benoit (Scarlet’s grandmother) was to the construction of entire series. The Little Android is an unrelated but cute futuristic retelling of The Little Mermaid. And finally, Something Old, Something New is the perfect epilogue that all the fans have been dreaming of."
