"This was a Christmas gift and it is great to have this writers work all together in one book. Would recommend this to any book lover of the classics."

Crystal (4/5)

Well-made reprint

"This is on my daughter's Christmas wishlist. I can only say it's a high quality reprint, unlike some reprints of old classics that I have come across. Sometimes the font or binding quality is low, or one comes across typos. This book does not have these defects and the pages fall nicely."

Kimster (5/5)

Alexie (5/5)

Beloved

"edgar allan poe's works pull you in, and i'm quite sure they never fully let you go. they remain in the deepest parts of your mind, sitting, waiting in that dark corner for you to get into an uneasy situation. and that's when they hit you. even harder than when you first read them. 11/10, really. the raven isn't as overrated as i had expected. the raven is a masterpiece."

Much of Poe’s life — orphaned, debts, alcohol abuse and heartbreak — are encapsulated in his works — and well-archived in this Rock Point edition.—Mountain Times

Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) is one of America’s greatest and best-loved writers. Known as the father of the detective story, Poe is perhaps most famous for his short stories—particularly his shrewd mysteries and chilling, often grotesque tales of horror—he was also an extremely accomplished poet and a tough literary critic.

Poe’s life was not far removed from the drama of his fiction. Orphaned at a young age, he was raised by a foster family. As a young man, he developed problems with gambling, debts, and alcohol, and was even dismissed from the army. His love life was marked by tragedy and heartbreak. Despite these difficulties, Poe produced many works now considered essential to the American literary canon.
