After years of frequent moves following her mother’s death, Chloe Saunders’s life is finally settling down. She is attending art school, pursuing her dreams of becoming a director, making friends, meeting boys. Her biggest concern is that she’s not developing as fast as her friends are. But when puberty does hit, it brings more than hormone surges. Chloe starts seeing ghosts–everywhere, demanding her attention. After she suffers a breakdown, her devoted aunt Lauren gets her into a highly recommended group home.
At first, Lyle House seems a pretty okay place, except for Chloe’s small problem of fearing she might be facing a lifetime of mental illness. But as she gradually gets to know the other kids at the home–charming Simon and his ominous, unsmiling brother Derek, obnoxious Tori, and Rae, who has a “thing” for fire–Chloe begins to realize that there is something that binds them all together, and it isn’t your usual “problem kid” behaviour. And together they discover that Lyle House is not your usual group home either…

This Series Will Have You Hooked!
"It took me a long time to pick up this book, even though I'm a fan of Kelley Armstrong books, because it fell in the YA category and I wasn't sure I would enjoy it as a 'mature' reader. After starting the book, I quickly got caught up in the plot and sailed thru the next two books in the series. A great read, with a plot that keeps you reading on! Great for YA readers but great for adults too. I would recommend this series."
— Wendy (5/5)
Lifetime Fan!
"I started reading YA books in high school and that's all because of this series. Once I got over the manga books, I wanted to read a good series to make the switchover to YA and this series just happened to come out! I was and still am obsessed! I've probably read the entire series at least four times over the years and every time a new Kelley Armstrong book/series comes out. . I have to buy it and read it! I am never disappointed! My lifetime favourite author! Canadian proud!"

Great first book!
"I was a little hesitant going into this book at first but it got exciting pretty quickly with mysteries and character development. I love the back and forth between two of the main characters and the mystery sounding Lyle house."

4. 5 stars if I could.
"This was very enjoyable. Not what I expected, the cover seems misleading. Characters were relatable and strong. Kelley Armstrong really does do a great job with strong female protagonists."
