Great Read, Great Gift

"A great Canadian story: how we tapped our own talents to play a vital role at an important point in world history. And a great gift idea: this is a book Dad's will actually read."

Perfect gift for dad

"As Canadians reckon with our identity amidst unprecedented global turbulence, this book reminds us how Canadians came together and built up our wartime industries at a scale and speed never thought possible. It's a perfect gift for dads who are interested in WWII and industrial strategy. . . i. e. , most dads!"

Canada the world's 4th biggest military power

"What a revelation. If you’d thought that everything had been written about Canada in World War II, you’d be wrong. It was only three generations ago, but too few Canadians today have any idea who the Dollar-A Year Men were and what they accomplished for our country in a time of desperate need. Hundreds of business leaders were recruited by the federal government to run the wartime economy. This book tells the story how they transformed Canada from a farming economy into an industrial one in just six short years. What was achieved is astonishing. By war’s end, with just 11 million people, Canada was the 4th largest military and industrial power in the world. It’s an extraordinary story that all Canadians should know about. It is a great lesson for our times."
