Land of Painted Caves

"Land of Painted Caves is an excellent read, Jean Auel never fails to interest me with her books I recommend this series Of books to anyone"

The land of painted caves

"It is the last book in the series, I was very happy they had the book in the store!"

Lucille B. (5/5)

Okay, not the best.

"The first 3 books were really good, the fourth and fifth books were fairly enjoyable. This one is slow going though; there’s moments of interest but it’s overshadowed by a rather uninteresting plot. After the first few descriptions of caves it gets repetitive. _x000D_ The best part is that there are way way way fewer smut scenes to glaze over. However I’ve found myself skipping the repetition of the song that is sung over and over. _x000D_ When our MC starts repeating her backstory, which is quite often with how they meet new people almost every chapter, I tend to find myself skipping that droning explanation too, as well as the tedious greeting where they list their names and affiliations. A paragraph of names is unnecessary to be said more than once. _x000D_ _x000D_ I don’t recommend this book to anyone who isn’t truly invested in the story of Ayla and Jondalar and company. It’s not interesting, rather unfulfilling and mostly fluff that drowns out the good parts. I found I just couldn’t wait until it was over, which is a sad way to end what could have been a compelling series."

Final book in the Earths Children series

"I love the Earths Children series! The first 4 books are the best (in my opinion) but you have to finish the series. :)"

Alison (4/5)

Disappointing

"I loved earlier books from this series and couldn't put them down. I was very invested in Ayla's journey through life; however the last book of the series hasn't delivered. It took me 10 years to finish this book. I wanted to know how Ayla's story ends but I couldn't keep reading through continuous repetitions and uninteresting descriptions. The author over researched and over delivered on descriptions of painted caves, which were all the same. My advice to people who straggle with this final book is- you can completely skip the chapter 2 and move on straight after chapter 1 do chapter 3. You will miss all this repetitive and boring descriptions of countless caves. There was nothing significant to the story plot that happened in the chapter 2. I also wish that the Ayla's story hasn't ended in a middle of her life and would take us to the end of it. One more book would probably cover it but if it would be written the same way as the last book of the series I doubt I would buy it and try to read it. I still recommend the earlier books of the series that were fantastically good read."

The Land of Painted Caves

"Honestly, this book was just awful. The whole series was pretty boring and often redundant, but since I purchased them at a sale for a very low price, I had to finish them. I am glad that I did not pay full price. The Land of Painted Caves was without a doubt the worst in the series. Somehow both Jondalar and Ayla managed to completely change personalities. Confusing at best."

Erika (1/5)

Disapointing

"A dissatisfying end to a great series. It doesn't seem to reach any conclusions a reader would be expecting, and leaves you wishing there was more. Not worth a second read."

KMcCool (2/5)

Disappointing

"Jondalar is absolutely awful, and the story is meandering and doesn't really go anywhere. This really isn't a good ending for such a long series."

Marzipan (2/5)

Not great for an ending

"These are very slow books and I'm normally not a fan of excruciatingly slow narrative, but with my adept skills at skipping long useless paragraphs, I was able to barely get through this one. Although I still wanted to follow the plot and continue along with Ayla in her adventures this was a really long winded and repetitive book (even worse than previous ones) and this sorely disappointed me. Although the plot that was there kept me reading to find out what would happen (and it was interesting) I just couldn't stand the writing."

Diana (1/5)

Good ending

"I have enjoyed this series immensely. But I did not enjoy this book as much as the first books in the series. Still, something you will need to read if you liked the beginning books."
